Shiro Oni Studio Residency
Today I arrived in the town of Onishi, Japan to start an artist residency at Shiro Oni Studio. I will be spending the next 6 weeks as 1 of 10 ceramic artists working toward a 90 hour traditional anagama kiln firing and exhibition. There will be images and sporadic updates to come but as always, the best place to stay up to date is through Instagram @danelborne
I'm aiming to produce a site specific body of work and utilise this residency as a chance to experiment and learn through the practice of new techniques. This is a change I've been looking forward to from my current long-term project back home.
My participation here at Shiro Oni Studio is supported by the Sainsbury Sculpture Grant (2016), established in memory of the late Madeline Olive Taylor through her estate and administered by the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA).
